Week 5 – Transfer 3

It has been a roller-coaster week again here is Surrey!

We had an awesome zone meeting on Wednesday..our zone leaders Elders Atwood & Nielson and sister training leaders Sisters Willmore & Shelley are honestly such good leaders!! We really felt so motivated to get out and commit people to baptism. During the meeting, we role played a perfect baptismal invite…and now comes the miracle!! That night all our plans fell through. We prayed and prayed to Heavenly Father to know what he wanted us to do. We tried dropping by former investigators… We tried less actives, and nothing. We just kept praying. Then Sister Lofthouse thought of a potential investigator we had meet a few weeks ago who had ‘dropped’ her return appointment. We drove over to see her and she was home and let us in! We both were feeling the Spirit so strong, but had no idea what we were going to teach her…but all I could think of was that role play from zone meeting. So, by the Holy Spirit, we had THE MOST AMAZING LESSON EVER using the scripture 2 Nephi 31. We were practically swimming in the Spirit!  I don’t know how else to describe it, but Heavenly Father wanted us to ask her to baptized so bad! And she committed! Although, the rest of the story is not so good..we haven’t had contact with her since Thursday and she isn’t replying to any of our calls. It breaks my heart! Every single solid baptismal date we have been given…they all just seem to disappear off the face of the earth!!  One day..maybe! But being a successful missionary isn’t about baptisms. Its about love, serve, obey!! Just like in our textbook, Preach My Gospel, we are successful when we do our best, are as obedient as we can be, and feel the guidance of the Spirit!

It has been pretty cold here…like -3 degrees! But the blessing is that there has been NO RAIN!! for over a weeK!!!!!!! just lovely sunshine…and a whole lotta frost! It’s so nice though.

Here’s a funny conversation we had at the local bus exchange..just to let you know about Surrey…

Behind us walking back to our car…”Excuse me!”

turn around, see a homeless kinda guy. “Hi! How are you?”

“Good! I’m Samuel.”

At this point thinking… uh oh what’s coming..

“Hi Samuel. We’re missionaries!!”

“Yes. I’m Samuel. Like Samuel from the bible. He was crucified with Jesus, but people say he was a thief but he was a beggar..I am that Samuel”

My comp and I at the same time “…oh. That’s nice. Bye!”

Love missionary life!! also, if you’re feeling the Christmas spirit…email me some Christ related Christmas music to listen to!!!

Thanks! bye!

Frosty mornings!
